Let’s face it life can be chaotic, and we are usually right in the middle of it. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and forget to look to the simple steps that refresh our souls and draw us closer to God.
In the chaos and heaviness of life – we need to illuminate our paths with sunshine – the peace and joy that can lift our souls and remind us that when our lives are aligned with God, there is life filled with light, love and hope
Here are 5 Sunshine Steps to brighten each day as you journey with God:
- Sunshine Step 1: Begin each day with a grateful mindset. That is the opening to experiencing joy all throughout your day. In the small and big things, the good and the hard things – let your mind remember the good—no matter how small.
- Do this: Say aloud at least 3 things you are sincerely grateful for before you start your day.
- Sunshine Step 2: Talk to God – He’s always wants to connect with you!Talk to God honestly and frequently all throughout your day and from your heart. Share your gratitude, share your heart, your dreams, your hurts, and your wants and worship Him.
- Do this: As your day unfolds—in the pick-up or drop-off, as you do the laundry or the dishes, as you are changing diapers, whisper your thoughts to God. Include Him everyday.
- Sunshine Step 3: Release Your Worry and Control—Control and worry can rob us of our joy and cause us too many burdens we were not meant to carry. Release your worry and control and let God take it, resting knowing you aren’t alone.
- Do this: When you feel the control and worry taking over, breathe deeply and tell God you release the control and worry into His hands.
- Sunshine Step 4: Read from God’s Word Every Day. God’s Word is refreshing to our souls. It is spiritual sunlight because it nurtures our hearts and reveals God’s truth to helps us shift our perspective.
- Do this: Pick a passage of scripture and read it out loud, slowly several times. The ask: “God, what are you inviting me into today?”
- Sunshine Step 5: Be Kind. Extend kindness to others and to yourself as your kindness and love for others and self reflects God’s love in you.
- Do this: Smile, forgive, encourage, do one small act of kindness without telling anyone else you did it.
As you end your day and your sunshine steps, thank God for the day and for His faithfulness that He was with you.
Happiness isn’t always about big or dramatic experiences or moments. Often our mindsets can be switched to gratitude by taking small sunshine steps that help us set our minds on God, letting the steps guide our hearts, thoughts and actions—no matter what comes.
Look for when God whispers in the quiet moments and slow down so you see the divine in the ordinary of your day as you step. And remember to trust the process.
