Recently we celebrated the wedding of our middle daughter Leslie and her new husband Johnny. It was a beautiful day, beautiful ceremony and a beautiful picture of God’s love for each of us. After the wedding I couldn’t help but share the pictures I had from the day onto social media. By sharing the pictures of what we had just celebrated – it brought me joy. My joy was elevated even more when others would “like” the pictures or comment about what a beautiful wedding celebration it was.

By sharing what I cared about, our daughters wedding to her best friend and love of her life, and that she was given in marriage by her dad, who shared that day what we care most about, and that is telling others about God and His love for them – my joy was complete.

When we returned home from the wedding and got back into our regular routines, I caught up on the message I had missed at church which was to “share what we care about” (Pastor Drew Sodestrom, 2015).

I love to share what I care about (via social media) and what is happening in our lives and I love seeing and hearing about what is happening in others lives. I love that my joy is elevated when others like and comment about what I have shared. And it brings me joy to like and comment on what others share.

But the message  to “share what we care about” convicted me – in a good way, hence publishing this post. This blog space is one of the opportunities that God has given me to share the Gospel and I have been fearful to use this platform. I have wrestled with its purpose and drawing attention to myself. But as I listened to the message to share what you care about it moved me to act.  As John Piper wrote in Desiring God  “The happiness we find in God reaches its consummation when it is shared with others in the manifold ways of love” (Piper, 2011, p.28).

So here I am sharing in love what I care about most. Hoping and praying that those reading this will be encouraged to know God’s love. To understand that “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son” (John 3:16). That the greatest act of love was when Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins (we are all sinners – Romans 3:23).  That God would have mercy on us and make a way for us to live in eternity with Him through Christ’s resurrection (John 5:24). That we have done nothing to earn this grace, mercy and love (Ephesians 2:8) it is all because of Jesus! This is such GOOD NEWS and it completes my joy to share this and bring glory to God!

So stay tuned for future blog posts – as I share more of what I care about most. To pursue Jesus and to pursue our happiness in Jesus (Sodestrom, July 2015).

I am thankful for the steadfast love and grace of the Lord in my life and grateful to the message that moved me to share what I care about most!
