Got the letter from my insurance company and read the words “driver of policy vehicle is 100% at fault.” And I was.
It happened in a parking lot. I had gotten in my car after a doctor’s appointment and wanted to finish the book I was reading before I drove off. When I finished the awesome book (Point of View by Elisabeth Hasselbeck) I glanced to my left, put my car in reverse and headed out of the space and didn’t see the other car pulling in on the right next to me until I heard our cars collide. Ugh! Lesson learned, I know, look both ways!! Double Ugh!
I called my lovely insurance lady who happens to be my daughter. She writes a blog titled, Lovely Insurance Lady, because when people have a 100% at fault accident they need to be reminded that they have a lovely insurance lady because their premiums are going to go up! Triple Ugh!
All is good, no one was physically hurt, just a little fender bender to the other car and nothing done to mine, but I was 100% totally at fault.
But this isn’t the first time I’ve been 100% totally at fault. And, no, it does not involve a vehicle!
It Involves a Cross and a Savior.
A Savior who would lay down his life for his friends that includes me and you. You see it was my sin and your sin and ALL sin that put Jesus on the cross on Good Friday. We are all 100% at fault.
For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
I’ve been asked before about sin. People don’t understand sin. People believe that they are good and have good intentions and because of that they think they are not sinners. People don’t understand that the biggest sin is their separation from God through unbelief, through self-reliance, and by doing nothing, which looks like ignoring Jesus and what He did on that Good Friday for each of us.
But God
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 ESV
The only way to bridge that gap between our sin and a Holy God is through believing in and placing our faith in Jesus.
When He hung on the cross and died on Good Friday, He took ALL sin and made a way for us to have a right relationship with a Holy God, who loves us and wants us to live in eternity with Him.
When we give our heart and life to Jesus, we are no longer defined by our sin or how many times we may have been 100% at fault on anything. We are now defined by what Jesus has done for us on that cross…and that is GOOD NEWS!!
Because of Jesus, we have been totally forgiven.
The Son paid the price to make us free. In him we have forgiveness of our sins.
Colossians 1:14 ERV
I will have to pay for my fender bender, but Jesus has paid the price for my sin, your sin and for the sins of the world. And that is what we remember on this Good Friday.
What Can You Do?
Have you been ignoring Jesus? Have you been relying on yourself to get through your life with its ups and downs? Have you let your unbelief keep you from taking to heart what Jesus has done for you on Good Friday?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, my prayer is that you will attend a Good Friday Service this week. Hear, see and feel the love of the cross and the sacrifice of a Savior for you.
Then go attend an Easter service that celebrates the resurrection of our Savior Jesus from death on the Good Friday cross.
By being raised from the dead, Jesus defeated the power of sin and death and made a way for each of us who profess our belief and faith in Him to live with Him in eternity! That is the best news!
Happy Good Friday and Easter Sunday!

Imagine your son or daughter hanging on that tree. How little we think about the real pain Jesus suffered for us. What an awesome God we serve , to watch his only son, suffer for us. My heart cries at such Love for us. Praise God we are not left weeping, for we serve a risen Savior.
Sobering visual to think of our kids hanging on that tree and I agree we don’t think and feel enough about the real pain Jesus suffered for each of us. Yes, we serve an AWESOME God and my heart cries with yours, praising God that the cross is where joy and sorrow meet for our eternal future because of our risen Savior! Love you and am so grateful to you for you and Loyd being Jesus to me always pointing me to the cross.
